Bulwell is a town that lies 4.5 northwest of Nottingham City Centre. It has a population of 30,000 which accounts for over 10% of the population of Nottingham (2001 UK census). The centre of Bulwell is located in a valley next to the River Leen. The bog area beside the Leen is known as Bulwell bogs, it is a very popular play park for kids where they can also paddle and fish.

Over the last century Bulwell has grown enormously, with housing estates such Snape Wood, Highbury Vale and Crabtree Farm attributing to this. Snape Wood and Sellers wood were orginally woodland that bordered the landfill site to the north-west of Bulwell. Both woods were protected under Royal Warrants that dated back to the 14th century, but in the 1960s there was a drastic shortage of houses in Bulwell which led to the removal of the warrant and new housing estates were then built.

‘Greater Bulwell’ stretches over 3.5 square miles, some argue that Bulwells ‘catchment’ should include Bestwood, Bestwood Park, Heathfield and Leen Valley estates which would make the size nearer to 5 square miles. The Greater Bulwell area as designated by The city Council includes Bullwell Hall, Bulwell Central, Bulwell Village, Bulwell Forest, Top Valley, Moorbridge, Crabtree Farm, Heron Ridge, Highbury Vale, Hempshill Vale, Snape Wood, Sellars Wood and also a significant area of Rise Park. If you have any properties in these areas, Nottingham Lettings would be happy to discuss how we can help you achieve the maximum rental income for your property and offer you a free consultation of our services.

Transport in Bulwell is a hub for the north of Nottingham. There are three stations serving Bulwell on the tram system: Bulwell, Bulwell Forest and Moor Bridge. Next to Bulwell tram station is the railway station which is served by the Robin Hood Line. The service goes north to Mansfield and Worksop and south to Nottingham City Centre. Bulwell is only 5 mins drive from junction 26 of the M1 and it also has easy access to Manfield via the ring road and A60. There is also a large bus station and a taxi rank with two taxi firms based in Bulwell.

There are many shops in Bulwell town centre, there is also Morrisons, Matalan and Wickes at Springfield Retail Park on Leen Drive. An Argos on Spring Road, a Co-op on Highbury Road and an Aldi on Sellers Wood Drive. There is also a market held in Bulwell town centre every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
