St Anns become part of a study in the late1960’s proving that income alone was not the only factor of poverty but also housing and St Anns was classed as a slum. St Anns went through a huge transformation in the early seventies with new housing developments. The area shares it boarders with Mapperley, Sneinton, Sherwood, Bakers field and is in walking distance to the Victory part of the city centre.

St Anns is also home to the largest and oldest allotment areas in the world going back to the Victorian age and covering 75 acres. The allotments and community orchards benefit the local community holding events each month and educational programmes for local schools, making it more appealing to St Anns letting agents and people wanting to live closer to the city centre.

In recent times St Ann’s housing is undergone another extensive up-grade. The area has a vibrant multi cultural presence with a strong sense of community. Stonebridge Park Estate is the latest redevelopment by the city council adjacent to Blue Bell Hill road providing 48 one and two bedroom apartments and 47 two, three and four bedroom houses.

St. Ann’s valley Library is on St Ann’s well road offering family and youth facilities including computer and internet with facilities for disabled people. Another centre that focuses on community is the Sycamore Complex with emphasis on the provision of learning and leisure facilities.

One of the main attractions about the area is its proximity to the city centre. The city centre was voted 5th in the list of top 15 UK retail areas also offering a wealth of restaurants and a thriving night life making it popular amongst students and keeping Nottingham letting agents on the look out for good quality properties.
