Clifton is a housing estate and village in the City of Nottingham. It was once billed as the biggest housing estate in europe and now has over 20,000 residents. The estate was built in the 1950s, it was planned not as one area but as five different neighborhoods, each with their own infant and juniors schools. Although this plan didn’t turn out as expected Clifton now has pockets of schools and houses and six primary schools in the area. Nottingham Lettings thoroughly recommends Clifton as a great place for families with young children as you have a great choice of schools in this area.

Clifton has a range of shops in the estate such as Morrisons on Green Lane, an Iceland supermarket and a Farmfoods on Southchurch Drive. There is also a leisure centre, complete with its own pool on Southchurch Drive and a sports centre on Farnborough Road with football fields and cricket pitches. Clifton also has a selection of pubs in the area, there is the Grey Mare, Fairham and The Winning Post on Farnborough Road, the Man of Trent on and The Peacock on Gotham Lane.

Clifton Village is on the A453 which is the main connection between Nottingham and the M1 south. The Village has a quainter more rural feel to it with larger and pricier properties. Clifton Village has many older buildings including Clifton Hall and St Marys Church. The hall is Grade I listed and next to it lies a new gated development comprising of 14 properties known as Clifton Hall Park. Nottingham Trent University has one of its campuses on Clifton Lane and on Farnborough Road there is another campus for South Nottingham College. This is a great area for landlords that have empty student properties as Nottingham Lettings can guarantee to get your property rented out before the school term starts.

Clifton is a well known area for its sporting talent, with Jermaine Pennant, Jermaine Jenas and Darren Huckerby, all currently top football players that all played for Clifton F.C when they were youngsters. Olympic Ice skater Jane Torvil, grew up in Clifton and attended Milford School.
